Gareth Robins, founder of Robinsight, brings extensive experience to New Zealand's road transport sector. Previously the director of analytics at EROAD, he played a pivotal role in developing innovative solutions tailored to freight customers' needs, enhancing safety and efficiency. Gareth's work leveraged EROAD's extensive GPS data to bridge the gap between private data and public sector needs, aiming to improve road networks and safety standards.

In 2017, he initiated a transportation research centre at EROAD, collaborating with freight operators, academic institutions, and government agencies to explore the transformative potential of GPS data in transportation. This includes applications ranging from traffic analysis to predictive analytics for safety and regulatory measures.

Gareth's advocacy for data-driven decision-making in transportation extends beyond New Zealand. He holds key memberships in the Transportation Research Board in the U.S., focusing on freight data quality and trucking industry research. Additionally, he serves on the technology transfer committee of the Pacific Northwest Transportation Consortium (PacTrans), promoting sustainable, technology-based transportation solutions.

Recently, Gareth joined the board of ITS New Zealand, reinforcing his commitment to advancing intelligent transportation systems. His efforts in New Zealand and abroad demonstrate a dedication to using GPS data for enhancing transportation systems, making him a trusted authority in the field. Gareth's pragmatic approach and stewardship of crucial data through Robinsight underscore his invaluable contribution to the transport industry.
